Floyd Lamb State Park
Tule Springs was the original name given to the present Floyd Lamb State Park. For native Americans, this served as an early water stop. In later years, it transformed itself as a working ranch under private ownership and a dude/guest ranch in the 1950s. In modern times, the park has 4 small fishing lakes and groves shaded by trees alongside these lakes. Floyd Lamb State Park is available to visitors on Las Vegas travel for use during the day.
Prospective divorcees had a special interest in the Floyd Lamb State Park when it functioned as a ranch. In those days the divorce laws in Nevada were changing and it required a residency of six weeks to be eligible to file the requisite papers for a divorce. The ranch became a comfortable option to go through this waiting period.
During times when Nevada was much wetter and cooler, Tule Springs, which is the present day Floyd Lamb State Park is believed to have been visited by several large mammals from the prehistoric era. The fossil remains of these mammals now extinct have been found here. Some of these have been bison, camels, horses, giant sloths etc.
As a picnic spot, Floyd Lamb State Park is ideal because it offers the tables, restrooms, grills, group areas necessary to enliven the picnic. In addition one can also enjoy the bicycle/walking path winding through the park.
During summer (May-August), the park is open from 8 am to 8 pm while the winter timings are 9 am to 5 pm (September-April). Admittance is charged at $1 per head or $6 per vehicle. Annual passes costing $45 holds good from the date of purchase to end December. The park is open all through the year and merits inclusion in your next Las Vegas NV travel vacation itinerary.
